Geneva Airport and Aéroports de Montréal sign deal to boost partnership

TIN news:  Switzerland’s Geneva Airport has signed a new cooperative agreement with Aéroports de Montréal in Canada to strengthen collaboration between the two airports.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two airports will share their best practices in a wide range of sectors, such as sustainable development, technological innovation and risk management.

The cooperative agreement offers an official framework for information sharing, which the two organisations had already engaged in for several years, especially in the areas of snow removal operations and network development.

Though a wide geographical separation exists between Geneva Airport and Aéroports de Montréal, the two airports share a number of operation problems.

In 2016, both Geneva and Montréal handled similar numbers of passengers, which was mainly due to the launch of new non-stop flights at both airports.

However, movement through the respective hubs of the two airports did not grow substantially, in spite of the increased passenger volumes.

In addition, both airports have been awarded the Level III Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) certification and are working to achieve Level 3+, which certifies airport carbon neutrality.

As members of the Airports Council International (ACI), the airports are connected via a direct flight, maintaining both cultural and economic proximity between the two cities.

The new agreement will enable the airports to optimise strategies and boost the role of the two airports within the civil aviation and aerospace industry.
