Spencer Lee, Head of Commercial for AirAsia Berhad said:
“We are excited to expand our network with the introduction of three new routes through the two key hubs in Malaysia. This is in line with our commitment to provide guests with more connectivity from East to West Malaysia; the South state of Johor to East Coast. We are determined to make air travel more affordable, convenient, and accessible to all guests in the region and beyond by connecting them from one point to another seamlessly.
“One of our key focus is to grow Langkawi and establish it as an international hub. For this, we are working closely with Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), to market Langkawi as a top tourist destination in China. Our current route from Langkawi to Guangzhou is performing well and we are confident this brand new connectivity will certainly boost tourist arrivals even further” added Spencer.
The introduction of the Langkawi-Shenzhen route marks Langkawi’s third international route after Singapore and Guangzhou. Currently, AirAsia Berhad also operates direct flights from Langkawi International Airport to Kuala Lumpur and Penang, apart from Singapore and Guangzhou.
The AirAsia Group operates a total of 7 domestic routes and 5 international routes into Senai International Airport by AirAsia Berhad (flight code AK) and Indonesia AirAsia X (flight code XT).
