Airberlin to lease two Airbus A330-900neos

Germany-based airberlin has confirmed to ATW it will lease two Airbus A330-900neos, but has not disclosed the lessor.
An airberlin spokesperson told ATW, “The contract will be a so-called lease-in from a leasing company. The final delivery date depends on the delivery schedule from Airbus.”
In September 2016, ATW reported the A330-800 and -900 will feature a new A350-inspired wing with Sharklet wingtip devices, incorporating latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and the new AirSpace by Airbus cabin.
On Feb. 17, oneworld carrier airberlin is set to add three leased Airbus A330-200s, increasing seat capacity as Germany’s second-largest carrier eyes its biggest long-haul summer flight schedule to the US.
Airberlin currently operates a long-haul fleet of 17 Airbus A330-200s.
