Frankfurt Airport offers movies, gaming for waiting passengers
Germany’s Frankfurt Airport now offers a selection of movies and gaming activities for waiting passengers in Piers A and Z in Terminal 1. Both are free services.
Frankfurt operator Fraport said “Movie World” enables passengers to sit on “comfortable couches for up to three persons are arranged in front of TV screens, just like at home. They are placed in niches for added privacy. Plus, the floor is covered with carpeting: although this is an unusual sight at an airport, it results in a cozier, more intimate atmosphere.”
The films are played on demand. The two Movie World areas in Terminal 1 can accommodate 22 persons in eight separate TV niches.
“Gaming World” features controller-based games like FIFA, NBA and various racing games, as well as an interactive screen with a gesture-controlled game that can be played free of charge.
“Scientists have shown that playing video games helps overcome jet lag, and this one has the extra benefit of reactivating tired limbs after hours of sitting still in the plane. There are games for all age groups to choose from, and passengers can play together, against one another or by themselves, just as they please,” according to Fraport, which said it regularly introduces new services and facilities to “keep improving the customer experience at Germany’s largest transportation hub.”
In March, Frankfurt Airport opened a transit hotel, which gives passengers the option of securing a private room for a few hours. Rooms can be booked from a minimum of three hours, allowing passengers to freshen up before they board their onward flights. The MY CLOUD hotel is located at Gate Z 25 in Frankfurt’s Terminal 1.
