Russian Azur Air’s fleet reaches 20 aircraft

Russia’s Azur Air has taken delivery of its fourth 189-seat Boeing 737-800, bringing its fleet to 20 aircraft.

The aircraft began first flights to Turkey and Spain Aug. 5, carrying 765 passengers on the first day of operations.

The Moscow-headquartered carrier—which operates charter and scheduled flights to leisure destinations—has a fleet of eight 757-200s, eight 767-300s and four 737-800s.

From January-July, the airline carried 1.56 million passengers, up 82% year-over-year (YOY). It is the eighth biggest airline in Russia.

Azur’s load factor reached 96.5% in 1H 2017, up 2.9 points YOY. According to a company statement, the carrier will take delivery of fifth 737-800 in the near future.

Azur Air was created from former UTair Airline subsidiary Katekavia.
