Airberlin delays 2Q financial results following bankruptcy filing
Airberlin will delay its 2Q results presentation, which had been expected Aug. 18, because of the German carrier’s bankruptcy filing earlier this week.
An airberlin spokesperson told ATW the results “will be presented at a later time, within the statutory deadline by Oct. 2.”
Germany’s second largest carrier filed for insolvency Aug. 15 after Etihad Airways—which has a 29.2% stake in airberlin—withdrew financial support.
The German government is issuing a loan of €150 million ($177 million) to airberlin to ensure flight operations for about three months.
Lufthansa is starting negotiations with airberlin’s newly appointed administrator Lucas Flöther and CEO Thomas Winkelmann to discuss the targeted takeover of a large number of assets.
