Aircraft was in the initial climb out of Abu Dhabi’s runway 13R when the right hand engine (Trent 772) emitted a loud bang prompting the crew to stop the climb at 3500 feet and return to Abu Dhabi for a safe landing on runway 13L about 20 minutes after departure.
A passenger reported there was the sound like an explosion from the right hand engine. The airline confirmed a technical malfunction with one of the engines.
