The organizers of the Paris Air Show - Le Bourget announced the cancellation of the next edition due to "the uncertainty linked to the health crisis of COVID-19." The event was to be held from June 21 to 27, 2021.
"The Board of Directors of the SIAE [the organizers], in agreement with the Board of GIFAS [the French aerospace industries association], has made this inevitable decision given the international health situation and the attendance that such a popular festival generates,” the event’s organizers explained in a statement. “This decision, reasonable, was taken unanimously by the SIAE Council, in a context of a crisis of unprecedented magnitude for the aeronautics and space sector."
2021 would have marked the 54th edition of the air show. Created in 1909, the show is - along with the Berlin Air Show - one of the oldest aerospace events in the world.
The next edition of the bi-yearly Paris Air Show will be held in June 2023. The specific date has yet to be announced. “We are working today on making sure the 2023 edition of the show will be a renewal, serving aeronautics and space, at a world level,” declared Patrick Daher, General Commissioner of International Trade Shows of Aeronautics and Space, and Chairman of the Daher group.
