Avianca will open its 13th route between El Salvador and the U.S. with service to Chicago starting later this year.

From June 3, the Colombian carrier will commence flights between El Salvador International Airport (SAL) in capital San Salvador and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). The service will be flown on a seasonal basis 3X-weekly.

Using an Airbus A320 aircraft configured with 180 seats, the carrier will offer 540 seats each way weekly on the route.

Avianca noted it expects “high season” demand for the SAL-ORD service during the northern hemisphere summer. No airline is currently flying between San Salvador and Chicago.

The airline said its most popular U.S. routes from SAL are to Houston Intercontinental, New York John F. Kennedy, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington Dulles.
