Iran, Vietnam Push for Closer Parliamentary Ties
Officials from Iran and Vietnam explored avenues for the enhancement of political and economic relations between the two nations, and for closer parliamentary interaction.
Meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Vice Speaker of Vietnam's Parliament Do Ba Ty discussed ways to boost relations between the two Asian countries.
Hailing the “fight against colonialists” as a common characteristic of the Iranian and Vietnamese nations, Larijani said the two countries can broaden their ties in various fields, such as agriculture and mining and petrochemical industries.
The visiting Vietnamese lawmaker, for his part, said Hanoi is eager to “open up a new chapter” in the relations with Tehran.
He also invited Larijani to pay a visit to Vietnam, expressing his country’s willingness to establish high-level relations with Iran.
