Cruise & Maritime Voyages has revealed a partnership with British tea brand Whittard of Chelsea, debuting on the line's newest ship, Columbus, on June 8.

The retailer -- also known for its blends of coffee, plus china and confectionery -- will supply the 1,400-passenger ship with a range of tea and chocolate drinks, while gift collections will feature in the ship's onboard boutique.

Whittard of Chelsea will also feature on the line's Magellan and Marco Polo ships.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages' head of customer service, Bob McGowan, said: "We are delighted to be working with such a recognisably famous tea and beverage company.

"Our passengers always appreciate a blend of quality and tradition and we believe that they will appreciate and enjoy the quality of Whittard beverages. There will be also be the opportunity to buy Whittard gift products on board."

This follows the news earlier this week that TV presenter Angela Rippon will become the godmother of Columbus at a naming ceremony held at the ship's new homeport of London Tilbury on June 8.

The former P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Pearl is currently undergoing a three-week refurbishment in Rotterdam, before arriving in Tilbury on June 5.

The ship's new look will include 150 brand-new single cabins, newly decorated lounges, a Crafter's Studio, a library and a traditional-style Taverners Pub & Casino.
