Diana Shipping’s bulk vessel grounds off Indonesia
Athens-based shipping company Diana Shipping Inc. (DSX) today announced that the employment of one of its Panamax bulk carriers, Melite, has been temporarily disrupted due to a grounding incident at Pulau Laut, Indonesia.
The 76,436 dwt Panamax dry bulk vessel has probably suffered damage to her hull resulting from the grounding, company’s official statement said, without giving further details on the incident.
Although the company is still assessing the situation, the crew is in no danger as a result of this incident and there has been no pollution.
The New-York listed ship was built in 2004.
The incident was announced on the same day that the company reported a net loss of $23.8 million, in its financial report for Q2 2017.
