US Sanctions against Sudan to be lifted until October

US Sanctions against Sudan to be lifted until October
TINNews |

The North P&I Club has issued an update regarding US Sanctions against Sudan to inform that the temporary lifting has been extended  until 12 October 2017.

The Executive Order signed by President Obama in January temporarily relieved Sudan of US sanctions and a permanent revocation of sanctions was expected on 12 July 2017.

However, President Trump has issued an Executive Order to extend the period of temporary relief until October 12,2017 in order to permit additional fact-finding and a more comprehensive analysis of the Government of Sudan’s actions.

This means that while the Sanctions have not been permanently revoked, US persons continue to be largely free to engage in transaction with and relating to Sudan, at least until October 12, 2017.
