Finish technology group Wärtsilä has secured the contracts to supply re-liquefaction plants to three new LNG carriers currently under construction. The equipment is scheduled for delivery starting from February 2018.

One ship is being built at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) yard in South Korea for the international owner and operator Gaslog. The others are for Norway-based Knutsen and are being built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in South Korea.

The re-liquefaction plant ordered for these vessels features latest mixed refrigerant (MR) technology, an energy efficient solution for smaller liquefaction applications. This new installation will have a capacity of 1.5 – 2.5 tons/hour.

Gaslog has been cooperating with Wärtsilä for many years and Knutsen’s two latest vessels delivered in 2016 are fitted with Wärtsilä’s nitrogen based re-liquefaction plants.
