Twenty crew members of a Tanzanian-flag ship were rescued by an Omani Good Samaritan, after the vessel sank on Saturday, 3 September, in Omani waters, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

The ship, that was en route from Sharjah to Eritrea, sank just before the port of Al-Labki in Wilayat Jazir, within Omani territorial waters, according to local media.

At the time of the incident, the vessel had 20 crew of different nationalities onboard and was carrying building and steel materials.

All the crew was rescued by an Omani resident with two fishing boats, after he received a distress call by a crewman, reporting that the ship was taking on water.
