Samsung Heavy applies for BWMS USCG type approval
The US Coast Guard Marine Safety Center informed that it has received its seventh application for Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) type approval for the Purimar BWMS manufactured by Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.
The MSC will review the application for compliance with US Coast Guard regulations in 46 CFR 162.060. Once it has been determined that the application meets the requirements, the MSC will issue a type approval certificate.
The latest manufacturer to have applied for the USCG type approval was Greek Erma First, on 2 May 2017, which is currently also under review by USCG.
Earlier, on 31st of March 2017, the US-based Ecochlor became the latest manufacturer to receive a type approval for its Filtration and Chemical Injection BWT system type. Other approved manufacturers are Norway-based Optimarin, Swedish Alfa Laval, Norwegian OceanSaver and Chinese Sunrui.
