The video depicts sea trials of DEME’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) ‘MINERVA‘. The 3,500 m3 dredger is the first dredging vessel equipped with dual fuel engines and capable of operating in LNG mode, according to the company’s statement.

As informed, the vessel has a ‘Green Passport’ and a ‘Clean Design’ notation, meaning it exceeds the strictest emission requirements.

Recently, the company named its second LNG Fueled TSHD, ‘Scheldt River’,  in Zwijndrecht, Belgium.

In the near future, both ‘Scheldt River’ and ‘Minerva’ will be deployed for the seabed preparation for Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid (electricity plug) in the North Sea.
