New oil analysis service launched for the marine industry

American energy company ExxonMobil announced launch of Mobil ServSM Lubricant Analysis, a mobile-enabled used oil analysis service, that monitors oil condition and assesses equipment health.

As part of the Mobil ServSM offering, Mobil ServSM Lubricant Analysis can provide data on key equipment such as the stern tube, main engine bearings, generators and other auxiliary equipment, to enhance equipment reliability and prevent unscheduled downtime.

For instance, this can enable a ship owner to avoid opening up equipment for unnecessary inspection when the oil analysis report indicates no serious alerts within the operating period.

The new service also features scan-and-go technology, to eliminate labels and paperwork. Operators simply scan the QR code (barcode) of the sample point and bottle, enter the sample information and submit the sample.

Mobil ServSM was launched in September aiming to optimization of lubricant consumption and maintenance programs, vessel reliability and operating costs.
