CMA CGM aims to improve carbon efficiency by 30%
CMA CGM welcomed the adoption by the IMO, of the GHG Initial Strategy, aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 50% in 2050 in the maritime transport industry.
CMA CGM welcomed the adoption by the IMO, of the GHG Initial Strategy, aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 50% in 2050 in the maritime transport industry.
CMA CGM said that over the years it has developed several innovations, aiming to improve its carbon efficiency by 50% between 2005 and 2015 and by 10% in 2017.
The company has also set a new ambitious goal of improving its carbon efficiency by 30% between 2015 and 2025.
Namely, CMA CGM will own 22,000 TEUs powered by LNG. The choice of LNG will enable:
- 99% less sulphur emissions ;
- 99% less fine particles ;
- 85% less nitrogen oxides emissions
- Up to 25% less CO2.
