EMSA: Key figures from marine casualties in Q1 2018

EMSA issued key figures of occurrences reported to EMCIP (European Marine Casualty Information Platform) for the first quarter of 2018. The charts reveal a drop in incidents compared to the same period in 2017, regarding to ships involved (584 to 929), lives lost (6 to 17), sinking of ships (14 to 23), as well as injuries (156 to 292).

The bars show a dataset including numbers of: occurrences reported in EMCIP under the scope of Directive 2009/18/EC;

  • launched investigations (ongoing and finished);
  • lives lost;
  • ships sunk;
  • people injured;
  • ships involved; and,
  • very serious casualties.
