Cargo ship collides with yacht off Kent
Two people have been successfully rescued after a cargo vessel and a yacht collided off Dungeness, Kent, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, according to data provided by the HM Coastguard, which received a Mayday from the yacht following the accident.

Dungeness RNLI lifeboat rescued the two from the yacht. HM Coastguard’s search and rescue helicopter from Lydd was also sent for safety cover. Dover RNLI lifeboat and Dungeness Coastguard Rescue Team are also being called out.
"It's understood both crew members are safe and well. The yacht has become entangled with the superstructure of the cargo vessel and will need to be released, but is thought to be intact."

The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
The Maritime & Coastguard’s enforcement team and the duty surveyor have also been informed and are monitoring the situation. The UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch has also been informed.
