Wartsila Creates Marine Business Area

Smart Technology group Wartsila has created a business area dedicated to the shipping and maritime industries, which it hopes to deliver increased value to customers, according to a statement.

The move is part of a general overhaul of its business operations and will see it reorganised into two new operational areas – Wartsila Marine Business and Wartsila Energy Business, with both areas covering new sales and services for their respective markets.

Wartsila says this new structure will allow it to more effectively respond to customer needs, and allow it work with greater flexibility.

Wartsila Marine Business will have approximately 13,100 employees and Wartsila Energy Business 5,500. The changes will come into effect on January 1 2019.
