The Saudi Arabia-flagged chemical tanker NCC Sama has collided with a Taiwanese frigate in the port of Keelung.

According to The Central News Agency (CNA), the tanker was entering the port in the early morning hours on March 9 when the incident occurred.

The 45,471 dwt vessel allegedly hit the Ning Yang (FF-938) Knox Class frigate in the middle of its port side. At the time, the tanker was arriving to Keelung from the Taiwanese Port of Taichung.

According to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic, the unit is currently moored in Keelung.

There were no reports of water pollution nor injuries following the incident.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense was cited as saying that it would seek compensation for the damage to the frigate.
