A steel cutting ceremony marked the start of construction of what is known as' Singapore's largest' LNG bunkering vessel, as the bunker ship will be the second LNG bunkering vessel in Singapore.

Specifically, the Pavilion Energy, the Temasek-owned company, who issued the order for the vessel, commented that it has been its first accomplishment, following engineering design work for the construction of the vessel.

In addition, Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) will be the long-term charter contract operating the vessel.

The second LNG bunkering vessel in Singapore will begin operating in the port of Singapore after its delivery to Pavilion Energy in early 2021.

Also, in early May, Singapore conducted its first ship-to-ship transfer of LNG operations, including a reload of 2,000m3 of LNG onto a small-scale tanker at the newly-modified Secondary Jetty of the Singapore LNG (SLNG) Terminal.

Given that Singapore is today a bunkering hub, there are some challenging issues that operators should be aware of when it comes to bunkering, derived from frequent incidents which occurred in the past.
