Masovian Railways installs passenger counting systems
TINNews |

POLISH regional operator Masovian Railways (KM), Poland, has equipped 69 vehicles with Dilax passenger counting systems, which are compatible with counting systems already installed on the vehicles, or those that will be installed in the future.

KM aims to use the new counting system to adapt its services to the needs of its passengers. It has equipped ER 75 Flirt EMUs, Bombardier double-deck coaches, and Pesa vehicles with the counting system.

Using Dilax’s Citisense software, the system can also receive and evaluate data from other counting systems, making it possible to generate uniform reports for a trip, station or line.

Dilax’s software uses GPS coordinates to assign counting data to locations accordingly, and sensors mounted in the door area determine the number of passengers and the direction of their movement. Results are transmitted to the onboard computer, which then transmits them wirelessly to the KM server. Data is then processed and evaluated into reports for relevant time periods at individual stops, in individual vehicles, or on individual lines.
