Beijing breaks ground on Shunyi tram line

A groundbreaking ceremony was held in the Shunyi district of Beijing on July 14 to mark the start of construction on light rail Line T2.

The 19.9km line will serve 22 stations, including interchanges with tram Line T3 and metro Line 15.

The project is the first to be implemented by Beijing Metro as a public-private partnership.

Trial operation is due to begin in 2019.
