DB Cargo awards Siemens predictive maintenance contract
TINNews |

GERMAN Rail’s (DB) freight subsidiary DB Cargo has awarded Siemens a contract to upgrade its locomotive fleet with condition-based, predictive maintenance.

The upgrades will be applied to Class Siemens 170 and 191 Vectrons as well as its Class 152 Eurosprinter ES64F locomotives.

The six-year contract includes the retrofit of the Eurosprinter locomotives, which will be fitted with the “TechLOK” system used by DB Cargo along with telemetric systems, which will collect data on the condition of the locomotives. This will be used at Siemens’ Mobility Data Services Centre to develop identified applications and data analytics models alongside DB Cargo.

Data will also be used from Siemens’ Railigent platform to help identify disturbances at an early stage so that workshop visits can be more flexibly planned. The aim is to improve efficiency.
