Trial operation begins on Beijing maglev line

TRIAL operation began on the initial phase of Beijing maglev Mentougou Line (Line S1) on August 5.
The 10.2km first phase links Pingguoyuan in the western district of Shijingshan with Shichang in Mentougou district, and will serve eight stations with a journey time of 20 minutes.
CRRC Tangshan has supplied a fleet of 10 six-car trains for the project.
Passenger services are expected to begin before the end of the year.
