Sweco to plan Stockholm Central upgrade

SWEDISH infrastructure manager Trafikverket has awarded Sweco a contract to provide planning and design services for the modernisation of the country’s busiest station Stockholm Central.

Sweco says the project, which is due to be completed in 2022, is “one of the most complex in the history of Sweden’s railways” due to the station’s size, location and significance.

Work will be implemented in phases to ensure the station continues to operate efficiently.

Sweco will support Trafikverket for the duration of the project, preparing systems documentation, conducting analyses, and producing tender documents.
