Nomad Digital to provide Wi-Fi services to CrossCountry

Alstom's wholly owned subsidiary Nomad Digital has secured a contract to provide Wi-Fi technology and other associated services to UK train operator CrossCountry.
The agreement will see Nomad install its digital train technology on-board 58 Voyager trains, five high-speed trains and 29 Turbostar units belonging to CrossCountry, beginning later this year.
CrossCountry passengers will receive secure and free on-board Wi-Fi connectivity during their journeys following the installation.
The contract is scheduled to continue until 2020 and forms part of CrossCountry’s digital rail strategy, which aims to enhance the travelling experience of its passengers by installing latest technological solutions.
The scope of the deal also requires Nomad to provide technicians on the ground to resolve connectivity issues, as well as provide engineering maintenance.
Nomad's central customer service centre in Newcastle will also provide various ancillary support services.
"Nomad’s technology, along with its dedicated support services, make them the ideal partner for CrossCountry to ensure our customers get the best experience on their journey."
CrossCountry commercial director Ben Simkin said: “Good Wi-Fi is now an expectation when people travel, and with some of our customers travelling hundreds of miles on their journeys, they want to feel as connected on the train as they do at the office or home.
“Nomad’s technology, along with its dedicated support services, make them the ideal partner for CrossCountry to ensure our customers get the best experience on their journey.”
