Italian freight operator orders Siemens Vectrons

GENOA-based open-access rail freight operator InRail has awarded Siemens a contract to supply three Vectron electric locomotives.
The order comprises one 3kV dc locomotive and two multi-system units, one of which will be equipped with a diesel power module (DPM) for operation on non-electrified sidings.
The first two locomotives will be delivered in January 2018 and InRail will receive the DPM-equipped locomotive in October 2018.
InRail is the first Italian freight operator to order multi-system Vectrons equipped for operation in Italy, Austria and Germany.
