'Innovative challenger' in the German freight market
Swedish open access freight operator Hector Rail announced plans to establish a standalone business unit in Germany on October 23, saying it sees the country as an important market with opportunities for long-term growth.
Stig Kyster-Hansen has been named Managing Director of the future German business unit, and he will act as a full-time consultant to Hector Rail until taking up the new role with effect from January 1.
Kyster-Hansen has previously held positions with DB in Germany and Scandinavia, and was involved in the formation of ERS Railways in the Netherlands and Germany. He said he was looking forward to using this experience to implement ‘the proven strong business model of Hector Rail’ to create ‘a strong and innovative challenger on the German rail freight market to the benefit of German rail freight customers’.
