The International Level Crossing Awareness Day is a joint commitment that began in 2009 with ELCAD (EU countries + Israel). Since then, UIC has been coordinating this worldwide event to raise public awareness about the dangers at level crossings. The 9th edition of ILCAD was held on June 2, 2017, with over 40 countries in attendance and was officially launched through a press conference and a roundtable. The event was hosted by the Railway Association of Canada (RAC) in Montréal, Canada.
Each year a partner country of ILCAD hosts the International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD). The Croatian railway infrastructure manager (HZ Infrastruktura), together with the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb and the International Union of Railways (UIC) are pleased to be co-hosting the 10th ILCAD international conference on June 7, 2018, in Zagreb, Croatia.
An exhibition of level crossing technologies will be set up parallel to the conference which will be followed by a technical visit on June 8 around Zagreb.
