Independent high-speed rail operator, Proxima has ordered 12 Avelia Horizon very high-speed trains from Alstom for operations in France.

Under this contract, Alstom will also provide 15 years of maintenance for the new rolling stock. The maintenance will be carried out in a workshop designed and built by Liséa in Marcheprime, near Bordeaux

Proxima is the first independent company to enter the high-speed market in France. It has signed a firm order for 12 Avelia Horizon very high-speed trains. The total order is worth almost 850 million EUR.

These trains will operate along the Atlantic coast in France, with first deliveries expected in 2028.

Alstom’s Avelia Horizon very high-speed train is its latest generation of double-decker train. It can travel at speeds of over 300 km/h. The vehicle is comprised of two short-length power cars, alongside articulated double-decker cars. The design includes fewer bogies, thus reducing operating costs, as bogies account for 30% of the cost of preventive maintenance.

10 of Alstom’s 16 French sites will be involved in this project to supply various components for the new trains.
