The 10-mile light rail line, featuring 15 stations, is part of the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan (ASMP), which seeks to modernise and expand the city’s transportation network. The system will connect major destinations, including downtown Austin, Lady Bird Lake, and the University of Texas at Austin, with plans for future expansions to Austin’s airport and other key hubs.

As delivery partner, AECOM will provide a comprehensive suite of services, including:

  • Programme management oversight and initiation
  • Environmental services
  • Design management
  • Rail activation
  • Operational readiness

Additionally, AECOM will lead a team of technical subconsultants, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms.

Lara Poloni, AECOM’s President, said:

“We are the global leader in transportation, and we are proud of our partnership with ATP for Austin’s first light rail transit system. Cities across the US continue to make unprecedented investments in rail infrastructure, and Austin is no exception. This critical project will transform how Austinites navigate their city, with the promise of stimulating economic growth, protecting the existing environment and promoting a sustainable future for generations to come.”
