Stadler to Provide 17 Co’Co’ Electric Locomotives for LTG Cargo

Lithuanian freight operator LTG Cargo has awarded Stadler a tender for the supply of seventeen Co’Co’ electric locomotives.
The agreement, which includes an option for an additional seventeen EURO9000 Co’Co’ units, spare parts and maintenance, marks Stadler’s first foray into the Lithuanian market.
Designed for temperatures as low as -40ºC, the Co’Co’ electric units measure in at 1.520-meters, providing 500kN of maximum tractive effort and are capable of speeds of up to 120km/h.

The units also come equipped with proprietary electric brakes as well as automatic coupler SA3s and a full winterisation package in order to tackle local conditions.
Each vehicle features a drivers cab on each end, video surveillance equipment and onboard restroom facilities.
“The purchase of electric locomotives marks the start of a new era of even more sustainable and reliable rail freight transport in Lithuania. The new electric locomotives will transport freight between Vilnius and Klaipėda - a corridor that carries half of all rail freight in Lithuania annually.
