Over 18,000 Kilometers of Road Network Asphalted in 11 Months
(Tehran RMTO News) The Board Member and Director General for the Department of Road Maintenance and Technical Constructions at the RMTO has announced significant progress in road improvement and asphalt coating operations, nationwide. Over the span of 11 months this year, asphalt coating, including reinforced asphalt, protective coatings, stain removal and sealing, was applied to 18,397 kilometers of the primary and secondary roads network.

According to Alireza Siahpour, the completion of 6,688 kilometers of reinforced asphalt on the main and arterial road network by the end of February was highlighted, while this achievement surpasses the annual target of 4,500 kilometers for the current year, reaching an impressive 149% of the planned goal.
Mr. Siahpour also reported the implementation of 3,485 kilometers of protective asphalt coating during the same period, accomplishing 87% of the annual target. Additionally, sealing and patching operations on the road network exceeded expectations, reaching 164% of the annual plan. Although the initial goal was set at 5,000 kilometers, these operations were completed on 8,224 kilometers, comprising 5,459 kilometers of patching and 2,765 kilometers of sealing on the communication axes.
In terms of structural improvements, 52 new bridges and waterways were constructed or reconstructed, while major repairs were carried out on 2,505 buildings within the road network. Furthermore, 20,526 meters of existing tunnels were repaired and reinforced to enhance their safety and functionality.
Mr. Siahpour also stressed the comprehensive maintenance efforts undertaken during this period, including the purging, drainage and bed adjustment of 10,115 existing bridges and waterways throughout the Iran's road network, where these initiatives underscore the commitment to ensuring safer and more efficient transport infrastructures.
