Over 545 Million Tons of Cargo Transported in 11 Months via Road Network
The Director General for the Goods Transport Department at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization has reported that over 545 million tons of cargo were transported through the country's road network during the first 11 months of the current year. This marks a 4% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Mehrdad Hamdollahi, the role of 82 active cargo terminals and transport hubs across the country are highlighted as he stated that from the beginning of this year until the end of February, 545.4 million tons of goods were moved via road transport.
Hamdollahi noted that 21 million tons of essential goods were transported from the country’s ports to various destinations during this period. Additionally, 104 million tons of agricultural, livestock, and food products, as well as over 182.8 million tons of construction and mineral goods, were transported via the national road network.
He further stated that the country’s road freight transport system currently operates with over 460,000 freight vehicles, averaging more than 18 years of service life. To support this sector, more than 565,000 drivers and 5,561 companies and institutions are actively engaged in goods transport operations across the provinces.
Hamdollahi added that 243,573 pickup trucks, with an average service life of over 13 years, have been licensed by the Road Administration and Transport Organization for cargo movement and are actively operating in this sector. These figures underline the critical role of road transport in facilitating the movement of goods and supporting economic activity across the country.
