The Director General for the Department of Transit and International Transport of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization has reported a significant 40% increase in passenger traffic through Iran's border crossings during the first week of Nowruz 1404.

According to Javad Hedayati, cited data on cross-border movements to and from neighboring countries between March 5th and 25th, total passenger traffic through borders surged by 62.39%.


Mr. Hedayati revealed that during the first week of the Nowruz holidays, 4.3 million passengers were recorded at border crossings. Of this total, 1.1 million were incoming passengers, while 3.2 million were outgoing travelers.
Highlighting the busiest border points, he noted that the Mehran border experienced the highest traffic, recording 231,000 crossings. Other significant activity was observed at the Shalamcheh border with 129,000 crossings, Dogharoon with 42,000, Razi with 36,000, and Bashmagh with 35,000 crossings.


This remarkable growth in passenger traffic underscores the increased demand for cross-border travel during the Nowruz holiday season, reflecting the importance of Iran's border crossings in facilitating regional mobility.
