Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Visits Astara-Astara Highway Project and New Border Area

His Excellency Reza Akbari, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO), conducted an official visit to the Astara-Astara Highway construction site and the newly developed Astara border area. During the visit, H.E. Akbari stressed the strategic importance of the project for Guilan Province, commending the efforts of the RMTO Provincial Directorate General for their dedication in advancing the project. He expressed confidence that the highway would soon become operational, significantly enhancing traffic flow and boosting the region’s transport infrastructure.

While inspecting the new Astara border facilities, the Deputy Minister received detailed progress updates on the development. He highlighted the design's focus on boosting trade exchange capacity and optimizing transit operations. "Astara's strategic significance as a key entry and exit point for the nation makes the completion and full equipping of this border area a top priority for the RMTO," remarked H.E. Akbari.


The Astara-Astara Highway project, which spans 1,400 meters, is designed to improve road safety, alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate better urban connectivity. Currently in its final implementation phase, the project has achieved a 72% physical progress rate.
Dr. Alireza Siyahpour, RMTO board member and head of road toll affairs and technical projects, accompanied the Deputy Minister during the visit, along with the Director General of the Guilan Provincial RMTO. Their presence underscored the RMTO’s commitment to ensuring the timely delivery of this major infrastructure.
