First Vice President Honors Nowruz 1404 Organizers, Highlights Achievements and Future Goals
(Tehran – MRUD News) _ At a ceremony dedicated to honoring the organizers of the Nowruz 1404 celebrations, the First Vice President lauded the efforts that contributed to a safer holiday season, citing significant progress made under the "No to Accidents" campaign. He acknowledged the campaign’s role in reducing the number of accidents during Nowruz trips, while stressing the need for continued work to achieve more comprehensive safety outcomes.

Addressing the gathering, the First Vice President stressed the importance of identifying and addressing systemic issues. "Some shortcomings require the year-long efforts of government officials, while others demand active participation from citizens," His Excellency added.
The Vice President also noted the unique coincidence of Nowruz 1405 with Eid al-Fitr, reiteraing the need for early planning and coordination to ensure improved services and reduced accidents during the dual festivities. His Excellency highlighted the importance of innovation and infrastructure reforms across critical sectors such as transportation, technology, tourism and crisis management, as well as the standardization of service quality indicators.
*Transportation Achievements Highlighted*
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development provided an overview of transport achievements during Nowruz 1404. Dr. Farzaneh Sadegh reported that over 9.29 million passengers utilized the public road transport fleet during the holiday, marking a 27% increase compared to the previous year. The number of public transport trips reached 848,735, reflecting a 7.6% growth.
Minister Sadegh also highlighted a 45% increase in the movement of passengers through the country’s land borders, with approximately 1.39 million travelers recorded. She attributed the growth to effective planning, particularly in accommodating religious pilgrims traveling to the holy cities of Karbala and Najaf via the Mehran border.
In total, over 22 million passengers traveled across road, sea, air, and rail sectors during Nowruz, representing an 18.3% increase in passenger movement compared to last year. The Minister also announced significant progress in road safety, including the elimination and improvement of over 800 black sopts, with plans to address additional high-risk areas by the end of June.
*Collaboration and Safety Campaigns*
The Minister stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination, praising the efforts of organizations such as the Red Crescent, the Ministry of Health, and the police in ensuring smooth travel conditions. She also highlighted the effectiveness of the "Let's Drive Fully Attentive" safety campaign, which featured prominently in public advertisements and media coverage.
Minister Sadegh also expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their round o'clock efforts, noting that their dedication contributed to a significant reduction in accidents during the holiday period. She called for the continuation of the "No to Accidents" campaign, stressing sustained monitoring of road conditions and vehicle safety as critical measures to further reduce casualties.
*Recognition of Outstanding Contributions*
The ceremony concluded with the recognition of exceptional individuals for their contributions to the Nowruz travel plan. Ms. Elahe Parpanji, an intercity passenger transportation driver, and road patrols, Messrs. Mohammad Javad Noshadi and Qader Ebrahimpour were honored for their tireless dedication and exemplary service to passengers.
The event underscored the government’s commitment to improving travel safety and service quality, while setting the stage for more comprehensive planning ahead of next year’s festivities.
