TIN news: The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDoT) has appointed CH2M to provide environmental and preliminary design services for the reconstruction of the outdated I-80 / I-580 / US 395 system-to-system interchange around Reno, Nevada, US.
The completed design will help NDoT to obtain the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document for the project in approximately 3.5 years.
The Republic of Nicaragua Government has received a $136m loan from the European Investment Bank, granted under the EU-Latin America lending mandate for 2014-2020.
The loan will be used to construct a new bus rapid transit (BRT) line in Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua.
Expected to improve connections between east and west Managua, the new 10km-long BRT will run alongside Avenida de Juan Pablo II, which will be widened from a two-lane road to three-lane road in both directions, as part of the project.
The new segregated third lane will be reserved for high-capacity buses.
The BRT will have 17 stops and will be used by roughly 80,000 users a day.
The city of Toronto, Canada, has appointed Iteris, an applied informatics company based in the US, to manage and measure the performance of the city’s intelligent transportation systems.
Iteris will deploy its iPeMS technology to combine real-time and historical data from HERE, a global mapping and location services provider, to measure the performance of the complex transportation networks in the city.
The company's intelligent transportation system data analysis, visualisation and reporting services will help improve traffic congestion and safety in the city.
As part of the Roe 8 renegotiation, CPB Contractors and its alliance partners have secured three contracts with a combined value of A$276m ($203m) from Main Roads Western Australia.
The three projects include connecting Murdoch Drive to Kwinana Freeway and Roe Highway, upgrading Wanneroo Road to a dual carriageway between Joondalup Drive and Flynn Drive, and upgrading Armadale Road to a dual carriageway between Tapper Road and Anstey Road.
Roe 8 is a 5km extension to Roe Highway from the Kwinana Freeway to Stock Road in Perth, Australia.
The alliance partners are Georgiou Group, WA Limestone, GHD, AECOM and BG&E.
