The District Department of Transportation (DDoT) has selected CH2M as design-build consultant for replacement of H Street Bridge at Union Station, Washington DC, US.

Bridge reconstruction works will allow $5bn of private and public investment. Works will also include extension of the DC Streetcar, development of Burnham Place and expansion of Union Station.

As part of this agreement, CH2M will provide preliminary engineering, design-build RFP development and financial and transactional advice. The company will also be engaged in developing strategic policy and procurement, risk management, economic analysis and lifecycle modelling.

"Our team thrives on meeting the technical and schedule demands that will make this project a success and bring significant benefits to the DC region."

CH2M District of Columbia account manager Kathleen Linehan said: "The H Street Bridge project is an exceptionally complex and exciting project that provides significant economic benefits to the District of Columbia and travellers in and out of DC.

"Our team thrives on meeting the technical and schedule demands that will make this project a success and bring significant benefits to the DC region."

The authorities anticipate that the execution of these collective projects will transform Union Station into a major transportation hub.
