Eurovia wins €270m highway maintenance contract from Highways England
Vinci subsidiary Eurovia has secured a 15-year contract from Highways England to manage, maintain and deliver a capital renewal, as well as make improvements for highways and motorways in the south-west UK.
The €270m contract will cover nearly 1,695km of roads in the counties of Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire.
Alongside the major roads and motorway infrastructure improvement and maintenance works, Eurovia will also have the responsibility of lighting maintenance, responses to incidents and severe weather, as well as traffic management services.
Eurovia has been performing long-term major roads maintenance contracts in the UK, and its contracts in this region account for more than 50% of its business activity.
Currently, Eurovia manages more than 60,000km of roads in the UK through its subsidiary Ringway and joint ventures Ringway Jacobs, South West Highways and BEAR Scotland.
Eurovia’s parent company Vinci is reported to be the third largest construction and engineering company in the UK.
Vinci Group has a workforce of nearly 9,000 people in the UK.
In February, Vinci secured a contract for maintaining highways in Swindon and other parts of Wiltshire.
Vinci also signed a contract for the East works package of the Thames Tideway Tunnel in London in August 2015.
