Funding of $205m has been announced by the governments of Canada and Quebec for major repair works on the 620km-long James Bay road in Quebec.

Works include resurfacing more than 300km of the stretch, replacing culverts, and road safety devices such as signage and guardrails.

Of the total fund, $83.8m will be contributed by the federal government, while the provincial government will contribute $121.1m.

TransCore has won a $33.6m contract to design, build and deploy an intelligent transportation system (ITS).

Under the contract, TransCore will deploy a new ITS across 489 intersections throughout the city of Houston, Texas, and integrate it with the city’s TranStar and traffic management centre.

"Of the total fund, $83.8m will be contributed by the federal government, while the provincial government will contribute $121.1m."

The integration will enable engineers and emergency operators to quickly identify and share real-time traffic data with road users.

Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) has announced a $119.7m loan for the construction of a new section of the E18 motorway in Telemark county, Norway.

The loan will be used by the operator Vegfinans E18 Telemark to perform works in connection with a new, four-lane section of the E18 motorway.

The new section covers a length of 16.8km between Rugtvedt and Dørdal in the municipalities of Bamble and Porsgrunn, Telemark county.

Works include construction of bridges, a grade-separated junction and a 1.2km two-lane road to connect the new section with the old road.
