AS Nordecon to rebuild a section on Tallinn Ring Road in Estonia
The Estonian Road Administration has awarded a contract to AS Nordecon for reconstructing a section of Tallinn Ring Road between 600m and 2.8km.
Under the deal, AS Nordecon will be responsible for constructing a 2+2 cross-sectional road, Väo railway flyover and Veneküla tunnel. This project will cost €13.7m.
Nordecon Management Board member Avo Ambur said: "Reconstruction of Tallinn Ring Road or Estonian National Road 11 will continue during this building season as well, Nordecon is going to reconstruct the very beginning of Tallinn Ring Road.
"An III class road will turn into an I class road after the successful execution of the reconstruction work.
"Everybody who uses Tallinn Ring Road understands its importance, the aim of the reconstruction work is primarily to decrease traffic load inside the city and in surrounding settlements, to improve traffic throughput and, of course, change transit faster.
“Tallinn Ring Road also belongs to the Pan-European TENT-T network-Trans European Network-Transport, one of the targets of which is to change already existing roads and utility lines easily usable and efficient.”
The project will include reconstruction of 2.25km of Tallinn Ring Road, which includes 2+2 cross-sectional road and two new independent flyovers with the length of 100m, replacing the existing Väo railway flyover.
Veneküla tunnel will be built under the main road and a 300m of jogging and cycling lanes will be built together with the tunnel.
The construction firm was lay 83,000m² of asphalt pavement. Construction work is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
