Dynniq to deliver technology on southwest England's motorway network

Highways England (HE) has awarded its South West region four-year Construction Work Framework Lot 6 (Technology) contract to Dynniq, in recognition of the company’s collaborative approach to quality, safety and network management.

The South West region comprises Areas 1 and 2 and is HE’s largest operating area, covering 11% of the strategic road network (SRN), totaling 230 miles (370km) from Cheltenham to Penzance. HE’s Construction Work Framework is structured to enable the key delivery partners (across a combination of 12 separate Lots) to work together in developing schemes, providing infrastructure, and commissioning technology, in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.

The Dynniq technology being installed covers the full range of field-based systems from HE’s portfolio, including variable message signs (VMS), incident detection, CCTV, trunk road traffic signals, weather systems, emergency telephones, communications and power. The Dynniq team will: construct new sites, chambers and ducting; install and test the technology; handover to maintenance; and operate with a principal contractor team structure.

“This framework enables us to further demonstrate our approach to delivering state-of-the-art technology on the high-speed network,” explained Richard Bevins, Dynniq’s operations director. “Working from existing service centers within the network, with an experienced and trained team of engineers, a strong supply chain and pro-active approach to safety on the network, we will ensure that Highways England’s forward program of works can be met on time and to budget.”

Dynniq is also expanding its telematics offering, having formed a new strategic technology partnership with Smart Asset Manager (SAM) to develop the next generation in fleet management systems. Through the partnership, Dynniq will broaden the value of telematics and provide data from vehicles to measure key business metrics in areas such as emissions, fuel savings, and road service conditions.

Dynniq telematics will be powered by the intelligent SAM engine with a modular design to match the specific key requirements of a business. The system encompasses a vast selection of applications aimed specifically at reducing fleet running costs, improving driver safety, and maximizing operational efficiency. The company will provide a single, online software platform to manage, locate and report on remote assets, vehicles, people, and plant equipment.
