A design-build team of Ames Construction with Horrocks Engineers have been selected for the US Interstate 15 (I-15)/Garnet interchange project by Nevada Department of Transportation (NDoT).

The project covers expansion of the US Highway 93 to two lanes in each direction, upgrading an ageing interchange, and reconstruction of a frontage road along Apex Industrial Park.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) will receive a loan of $152.2m from the US Department of Transportation's (USDoT) Build America Bureau to complete the Interstate 15 (I-15) Express Lanes Corridor project.

Located along the 14.6-mile corridor of I-15 in Riverside County, California, the project will add new lanes from north and south to the corridor. It also includes the construction of new retaining walls, stormwater run-off treatment services, 11 bridge widenings, electronic toll collection, and traffic management system.

"The project will improve safety and connectivity for local communities, freight operators and tourists in the Cape York region."

North Queensland Civil Engineering Contracting (NQCEC) has secured a contract from the Queensland Government for performing sealing works on the 9.2km road stretch of Peninsula Developmental Road from Myall Creek to Rio Boundary.

The project will improve safety and connectivity for local communities, freight operators and tourists in the Cape York region.

Skanska has been awarded a $48.1m-worth contract by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to renovate the Nordby and Smiehagen tunnels on the E6 route in Akershus, Norway.

Contractual works include improving fire safety and rock support in the Nordby tunnel, and replacing road surface and repairing drainage systems in the Smiehagen tunnel. Both tunnels will have a new purification plant to take water out.

Works on the project are expected to begin in August and will be completed by February 2019.
