Kenny Construction secures bridge reconstruction project from IDOT
Kenny Construction has secured a contract from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in the US for the reconstruction and widening of the Van Buren Street Bridge in Chicago.
Under the terms of the $21m contract, Kenny will be responsible for the replacement of the Van Buren Street Bridge over Interstate 90/94.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Granite Construction, the company will also build a retaining wall at the north-west quadrant of the Jane Byrne interchange.
The project works will also see improvements to the south-east corner of Elysian Field and the relocation of the existing Greektown monument from Quincy Street to the project site.
Scheduled to begin this month, work will be completed by September 2019.
Last month, Granite secured a $441m joint venture (JV) design-build transit project from the District of Columbia Department of Transportation for the South Capitol Street Corridor Phase 1.
The JV team comprising Granite Construction Company and Archer Western has initiated works that include replacement of the existing Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge over the Anacostia River in Washington, DC.
The project works also include the construction of two new approach ovals and the reconstruction of a section of the I-295 adjacent to the new bridge.
Works are expected to conclude in December 2021.
