IRU seminar in Moscow outlines digital TIR capabilities for Eurasia

With the transition to fully digital TIR operations already a reality, the seminar was held at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) offices, and demonstrated the successes of the “eTIR pilot project” implemented by IRU and UNECE between Iran and Turkey.

The results of the pilot offer proof that using the modernised transit tools ensures compatibility with other digitalised procedures at borders, enhances security, streamlines TIR handling and ultimately boosts trade facilitation.

The seminar strengthened ongoing IRU-EEC cooperation, which is underpinned by a Memorandum of Cooperation on customs transit development in the region and an understanding to continue work on advancing the implementation of TIR’s digital tools.

Participants gathered from the Department of Internal Markets Functioning, Department of Transport and Infrastructure, Department of Customs Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice, and the Customs Infrastructure Department of EEC.
